The Stranded Whale (Giraffe Books, 2002) by Linda Ty-Casper, was
launched at the Ateneo Library of Women Writers in Quezon City in November 2002 during the annual Paz Marquez Benitez Memorial Lecture series. Read Dr. Teresita Sicat's observations on Ty-Casper's latest Filipino historical novel.
Linda Ty-Casper: "A hundred years from now, nothing in history textbooks will mention these events, as nothing much is said about the Philippine-American War that destroyed the First Republic in Asia. History's Memory? It can be politicized, self-serving memory. We have to turn to literature for information about bully nations who claim to lead the world towards peace and democracy, but in truth is expanding its interests."
