Jojie Alcantara's photography bent began with her stint as a travel writer. Her writings and photographs have since appeared in glossy fashion and travel magazines such as PAL’s Mabuhay and Cebu Pacific’s Smile, Zee Magazine, M Magazine, Cosmopolitan Philippines Magazine, Digital Photographer Philippines Magazine, and the most current in the market— Mango Magazine.
Her more important published works include photo spreads in the 2005 and 2006 editions of the coffee table book Epson Epix Best 200 Images of the Philippines produced by Digital Photographer Philippines. She was one of the photographers chosen by Digital for a Boracay photo assignment in their October 2007 issue.
Alcantara's entries in the prestigious online photography competition, BetterPhoto.com, garnered her 11 awards. In January 2010, her image of a man carrying a 74-kilo Opah or Moonfish bested over 18,500 entries and earned for her the Grand Prize.
Alcantara continues to write a regular lifestyle and travel column in a local newspaper in Davao City.
