Requiem to Jellyfish
by Joey Ayala

Thousands of you
Gobs of molten glass
All shades of blue
Fallen to the gray belt of sand
Cinched above this swirling skirt
Of foam and dancing water

Smooth molecules of rainbow's
Band of blue

Domes upon domes
Dome of sky in your
Dome of domes
Cloud-white crosses reside
Within

A touch turns you to jelly
Disembodied nipple-less breasts of blue

And underneath
Your lips
Stroked with calloused fingertips
Quiver
With desire
For the sea
Scant waves away

Perish softly on grain
In sunlight and rain
Beneath sweet, brave feet
Of absent children
