Island Reports
by Luis Cabalquinto

1
Pedro lost one arm
Tossing dynamites on reefs
When he lost his farm.

2
For the price of gin
And rice, her mother sold her
At twelve, a virgin.

3
A young handsome boy:
His parents are proud of him—
An Australian's toy.

4
Her one act of will
After the rape—grab his gun
And be killed, or kill.

5
Poet died fighting,
Said the official report.
(Tortured, they found him.)
